About Susan

My interest in travel and foreign cultures began many years ago. I studied Spanish & German in school and made my first trip abroad at age 17 to Mexico with an American Friends study travel program and later to Ecuador & Peru with an American  Youth Hostel group. When my travel companions & I were hit with  “Montezuma‘s Revenge “ (travel diarrhea) it was a real fun spoiler and there were some problematic side effects of one medication used to treat it. This experience inspired me to research natural alternative therapies and above all prevention. Montezuma’s Revenge was not something I  wanted to deal with again.

Hiking in the Catskills

I graduated from Friends World College where I had the opportunity to travel and live in several Central American and European countries studying anthropology, nutrition, herbal medicine, and other natural alternative therapies. This educational journey included a nursing assistant practicum at a the Lucas Clinic – a Rudolf Steiner Clinic in Arlesheim, Switzerland which combined conventional methods with “Iscador” (mistletoe) therapy – an alternative treatment for cancer. Later I spent eighteen months taking classes at Instituto Naturista, a 7th Day Adventist naturopathic school & clinic in Antigua, Gautemala. In the clinic I apprenticed a naturopathic RN helping Americans and other foreigners who had travel related health conditions.

After returning to the U.S. I trained extensively in the mind/body  approaches of Mosche  Feldenkrais, FM Alexander, and Ilana Rubenfeld.  I currently live in Woodstock, N.Y and have a wellness practice teaching people to create better health by making choices that are in harmony with nature. When an M.D. friend of mine introduced me to Shaklee Corporation’s natural nutrition, household, and personal care products fifteen years ago I was very  impressed with their results. Shaklee’s impeccable quality control and 90 published clinical studies gave me confidence that these were natural products I could consistently rely on in terms of effectiveness and safety. A big plus was that many of them came in convenient travel sizes, perfect for globetrotters and people on the go who want to stay healthy.

When not working I spend  time caring for my 8 rescue cats, hiking in the beautiful Catskill Mountains, and planning my next trip! I have studied Spanish dance for many years and traveled to Spain several times to learn about music and dance of the flamenco culture.
